  • Check temperature before pitching yeast (avoid shocking yeast)
  • Verify cold crash temperature (conditioning phase)
  • Monitor during active fermentation (adjust heating/cooling as needed)
  • Check water bath temperature (if fermenting in a cooler or water bath)
  • Verify ambient room temperature
  • Monitor carboy or bottle temperature during storage
  • Quick temperature check without disturbing fermentation

Compatibility / Works With

Works with:

  • All carboy sizes (5L–50L)
  • All fermenter types (plastic, glass, steel)
  • Bottles (for storage/conditioning temperature)
  • Demijohns
  • Fermentation buckets
  • Water baths or temperature-controlled boxes

    Does NOT work with:
  • Surfaces hotter than ~36°C (will not read accurately above range)
  • Surfaces colder than ~4°C (will not read accurately below range)
  • Dirty/wet surfaces (won't stick properly; clean first)

FAQ

Q: Will it stick to my carboy?
A: Yes. Clean the carboy first with dry cloth, then peel and stick.

Q: Does it give an exact temperature?
A: No. It shows a temperature range (color changes). Good enough for fermentation.

Q: How long does the adhesive last?
A: Until the fermenter is washed repeatedly or the strip fades (months to years).

Q: What if I wash my fermenter with the strip on?
A: It usually stays on. Eventually it will peel off from repeated washing.

Q: Can I reuse it?
A: The adhesive is one-time use. Once it's off, you need a new one.

Q: What temperature range does it show?
A: Approximately 4–36°C (39–97°F).

Q: Is it waterproof?
A: Yes. It sticks even if the fermenter is wet from condensation.

Q: Why only $1?
A: Because it's a simple color-changing strip. No electronics, no batteries needed.

Instructions

1. Clean the outside of your fermenter with a dry cloth (removes dust/moisture)
2. Peel off the white backing on the thermometer strip
3. Remove the clear protective film on the front
4. Stick the strip to the side of your fermenter (below the liquid level)
5. Done—now you can read the temperature anytime you look at the fermenter

READING THE TEMPERATURE:

  • Different colors appear at different temperatures
  • When multiple colors show, the most prominent color is your temp range
  • Check it once or twice daily during active fermentation

Care & Maintenance

  • Don't touch the display area (oils from fingers can affect readings)
  • Keep away from direct sunlight when not in use (UV fades the strip)
  • Clean your fermenter before applying (dirty/wet surface won't stick)
  • Replace when adhesive fails or strip fades and stops changing color
  • Store spares in a cool, dark place
